Anthropology Marriage and Divorce - 879 Words
Anthropology: Marriage and Divorce God in the Garden of Eden performed the first marriage. Adam and Eve, both made in God s image, were joined together by God and commanded to be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth (Genesis 1). God declared them to be one flesh (Genesis 2) and established the pattern of marriage to be a man leaving his father and mother and being joined to his wife (Genesis 2). Marriage in the Bible is a lifelong commitment between a man and woman before God. Marriage is the institution God established for sexual relations and the continuation of the human race. I for one believe what scripture says about divorce, which is that, itââ¬â¢s permissible in certain cases but the first reaction shouldnââ¬â¢t be divorce. I have friends and some pastors that I know who say that divorce is not allowed no matter what and they will use Luke 16:18 which says ââ¬Å"Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery.â⬠If divorce had not legitimate grounds, Luke gave an abbreviated record of Jesusââ¬â¢ teaching on divorce, emphasizingShow MoreRelatedThe Iroquois1136 Words à |à 5 PagesThe Iroquois Vonda Matthews Cultural Anthropology July 7, 2013 Instructor: Rebekah Zinser Kinship is the cornerstone for how people within a society relate to others and race lineages.
